Root Canal Treatment Colonial Heights, VA
Teeth can become infected for a variety of reasons, including deep cavities (and subsequently, deep fillings), cracks/fractures, and trauma. Sometimes a root canal is needed to save a tooth with an infected or damaged nerve/pulp. This procedure involves removing the infected nerve, cleaning out the nerve canal, and placing a filling material. Once the tooth has healed, a permanent filling or crown is placed. Patients tend to be fearful of root canals, but the modern root canal is nothing like the days of old, and often feels very similar to getting a routine filling done.
Root canals have a high success rate and help to save teeth that would otherwise be lost. Dr. Wire and Dr. Thatch perform many root canals at our office. In some situations, where we feel our patients might be better served by seeing a specialist, we will refer you to a wonderful endodontist (root canal specialist) in our area.
