I entered dentistry because I wanted to serve others while utilizing my talents in leadership, art, and science. Dentistry is my passion, not just my job. The most meaningful aspect of my work is interacting with patients and bringing smiles to their faces. My team and I believe in treating every patient with respect and genuine empathy. We aim to create a trusting and caring environment for our patients.
I believe the dental team does so much more than simply treat disease and restore dental health; we educate, comfort, and instill confidence. We’re part of your larger healthcare team and are continually working together to achieve your very best oral and overall health throughout every stage of life.
I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and continued my education at the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, where I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree. Following graduation, I completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at Virginia Commonwealth University, gaining expertise in prosthodontics, implants, and complex treatment planning.
I remain committed to continually improving my skills and increasing my knowledge through various educational opportunities. I have a desire to learn about every facet of dentistry, both to best serve my patients and as a genuine lover of lifelong learning.
I am a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Central Virginia Dental Care, PLC, Southside Dental Society, Richmond Dental Society, and the Southern Virginia Regional Chamber of Commerce. I was also honored to be inducted into the Omnicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society upon graduation from dental school.

I was born in Manassas, Virginia, but have also lived in Minnesota, Colorado, North Carolina, and Maryland. I currently live in Midlothian with my husband Justin, who is an attorney, and our two sweet little boys, Henry and Paul.
When I am not working, I love cooking, painting, reading, and watching college basketball (Go Heels!). I have played multiple musical instruments throughout my life, including oboe, flute, piano, and xylophone. On the weekends, my family and I enjoy exploring Virginia and visiting the beach.
I enjoy participating in various study clubs and volunteer opportunities throughout the community and am involved at my local church. I have provided dental care at several free dental clinics across Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina, including the Mission of Mercy and Remote Area Medical clinics.
One of my passions is teaching, and I enjoy visiting local schools or other organizations to speak about the importance of dental health.
I enjoy getting to know my patients on a personal level and customize treatment based on their specific needs. My favorite part of dentistry is the continued care. I love seeing patients on a continuing basis to monitor and aid their dental health, as well as learn about their travels, family, and life events. I believe this is what sets the field of dentistry apart from other practices of medicine, and is what drew me to the field. Your dental health and comfort during your experience is my number one priority.
I studied dentistry at the Medical University of South Carolina in sunny Charleston, SC, and graduated in 2021. After graduation, I spent 3 years working at a busy family practice in Denver, Colorado while my wife finished her PhD In Neuroscience at the University of Denver. I joined Dr. Thatch in July of 2024 upon moving to the area. We could think of no better area to call home and I truly enjoy serving the Colonial Heights community.

I was born and raised in Apex, North Carolina. My wife and I are excited to be back east and put roots down in the Richmond area. I enjoy any activity that gets me outside such as golf, fly fishing, hiking and camping. I grew up working in a kitchen and love taking on challenging recipes as well as exploring restaurants in the surrounding area.
Dentistry has been a wonderful profession for the past 38 years. It has been so rewarding to help people take care of their dental needs. My team and I have made such a huge difference in our patients’ lives by taking care of their pain, helping them chew or speak better, and increasing their self-esteem by improving their smiles.
I have been blessed to work with so many wonderful patients and an excellent staff; they are what make my job truly enjoyable.
I obtained a Bachelor of Science in biology from the Virginia Military Institute. Upon completion of my undergraduate studies, I served part-time with the U.S. Army Reserve. I attended The Ohio State University for dental school, and upon graduation, moved to Colonial Heights, where I purchased a dental practice.
In addition to being an adjunct professor for the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry, I continue my own education in implant dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and sleep apnea. Dentistry is changing rapidly, and I want to provide for my patients the very best possible care.
I participate in the Nottoway Study Club with other general dentists and specialists, during which we share ideas and discuss pertinent topics to dentistry. My patients deserve the very best treatment I can provide and these courses enable me to perform it.
I am a member in the Virginia Dental Association and the American Dental Association. As a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, I have gained knowledge about many facets of general dentistry. I was honored to be inducted into the Pierre Fauchard Academy as well as the International College of Dentists for my achievements in dentistry.
I grew up in Harrison, Ohio, which is near Cincinnati. My father was a veterinarian and I think he first got me interested in healthcare.
I live in Chester with my wife Sue. She is a registered nurse by profession and also worked as a reading specialist. Sue is retired now and has her mother living in the area to check on. I have two sons: Will, who is married to Allison and lives in Atlanta, and Jack, who lives in Denver.
When I am not working, I can be found outdoors, with golfing and fishing being my biggest loves, or cheering on VCU men’s basketball. Sue and I also love to travel and see new places.
I was on the board of directors for the Chester YMCA, where I am supporting the new renovation planned for the building. Our office is involved with the Give Kids a Smile and Donated Dental programs of the American Dental Association.
These programs enable my office to provide services for people in need at no cost to them. I also have the privilege of volunteering at the VCU School of Dentistry’s Lucy Corr Dental Clinic with senior dental students to provide treatment for the residents there.
